ISEP offers two different ISEP-Direct options in the UK. Students wishing to opt out of the housing benefit in order to live with relatives or friends can make their own accommodation arrangements while paying a reduced ISEP-Direct fee.
Note to Students: Beginning in the fall of 2009, meal benefits will no longer be included in ISEP-Direct programs at institutions within the United Kingdom. Most UK universities DO NOT offer a "cafeteria-style" meal plan, so meal benefits are typically issued in the form of a stipend check. Many students have expressed frustration at being required to open a personal bank account in order to deposit this check. By eliminating the meal option, ISEP anticipates that future students will avoid this frustration and save on costs by paying directly for meals and purchasing only the meals that they need. In order to help estimate your personal expenses while abroad, please see each host university's approximation of meal costs in the column below. These amounts are reflected in local currency.
Students applying to the UK on ISEP-Direct may choose one of the following two options:
- Tuition and Room
Cost includes tuition and room. Student will arrange and pay for own meals. - Tuition Only
Cost includes tuition. Student will arrange and pay for own housing and meals.
How to Apply
Students wishing to apply for an ISEP-Direct program in the UK should use the regular ISEP application when applying and indicate which of the two options they would like to be considered for on their application next to the name of the institution. (Example: University of Strathclyde - ISEP-Direct: Tuition & Room).
