Academic Notes
TSEBA's key area of expertise is business studies-accounting and finance, management and organization, marketing, international business, information systems science, and economics (emphasis on international economics). Other areas include European studies, small- and medium-sized enterprises, entrepreneurship, international business and logistics, and futures studies.

Language Notes
Knowledge of Finnish or Swedish is not required. The Åbo/Turku universities offer a wide variety of programs and courses taught in English. Multilateral applicants who are not native English speakers must submit a minimum official or institutional TOEFL score of 550 (213 CBT) or an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with no individual score below 5.5.
Beginner- to advanced-level courses in Finnish are offered (included in ISEP benefits).
Program Dates
Academic year: September to May; Semester 1: September to late December; Semester 2: January to May. The Faculty of Medicine's fall term starts in early August.
Housing and Meals
Housing for ISEP students is offered in single or shared apartments. The Student Village Foundation has several options for housing. Please see http://www.tys.fi/ for more information. All rooms have bathrooms and access to kitchen facilities. Students are provided with a stipend for meals. Married student and family housing is available.
Profile
The Åbo/Turku Consortium consists of Åbo Akademi University (founded 1918; 8,000 students), the University of Turku (founded 1920; 18,000 students), and the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration (founded 1950; 2,000 students). Total enrollment/ consortium: 28,000.
The three universities are situated on adjacent campuses and within walking distance to the city center. ISEP students register at one of the three universities and choose from courses taught in English in over 40 different subject areas that are offered by the universities every academic year.
The international offices at the three universities all offer services to incoming exchange students. An orientation program, excursions, student tutors, and advisory services all form part of the warm welcome that students receive. A Virtual Orientation Course, which contains useful information on most aspects of studies and life in Turku/Åbo, is offered to all exchange students prior to their arrival. Location
Turku/Åbo, the oldest city in Finland, is located on the southwest coast of Finland next to the stunningly beautiful archipelago. Originally a market town, it was the capital of Finland until the early 19th century. The city is located 160 kilometers west of Helsinki, the capital.
