Hints for Researching Courses
From the Study at Massey page, you may search by field of interest, programme (= degree program) or paper (= course). Click on any paper number for a course description and other details.
When selecting courses, students should note the fourth digit of the course code. This number indicates the level of the course: 0 = sub-degree, 1 = first year, 2 = second year, 3 = third year, 4 = fourth year (only applies to a few subjects because New Zealand undergraduate degrees are typically three years in duration), and 7 = postgraduate.
Please also note that New Zealand operates on the Southern Hemisphere academic calendar (Semester 1 = Feb-June; Semester 2 = July-Nov). Be sure your course requests are offered during the right semester.

It is not possible for students to study at more than one campus at a time, so students should select the campus they wish to study at based on the availability of courses. If you strongly prefer one campus over the others, you might want to enter this parameter into the course search engine before searching.
Academic Notes
Many participants enjoy studying New Zealand-focused courses, such as Maori Language, New Zealand Economy, Bicultural Perspectives in Psychology, New Zealand Fauna and Flora, Ecological Studies, Law, Government and Social Policy, and Women in History: Australia and New Zealand.
Special ISEP Application Instructions
Students should be sure to download and submit the correct application, labeled ISEP-Direct Australia / New Zealand. In addition to completing this ISEP-Direct application, students will also be required by Massey University to submit additional application materials. Missing or unverified documentation will result in delays in student placement, ISEP therefore recommends that applicants enclose the following documentation with their ISEP-Direct application, wherever possible.
Birth Certificate or Passport (verified copy)
Academic Transcripts –for all university credit received (verified copy)
Completed Massey University application form (go to: http://studyabroad.massey.ac.nz/ and select Study Abroad Application Form)
PLEASE NOTE: Massey University cannot recognize unverified copies: Copy birth certificates, passports and academic transcripts must be officially verified by applicant’s home University International Office, Study Abroad coordinator, or a notary public. Therefore when submitting an original copy of your passport and transcripts for the ISEP-Direct application it is recommended that students make a second copy for Massey and get the above mentioned authorities to verify each of these copies individually.
Verified copies must either
a) include a handwritten statement: “I ........, certify that this is a true copy of the original" (signed & dated by verifier), or
b) be stamped: ‘Verified by _____’ (signed & dated by verifier).
Students interested in taking courses at the New Zealand School of Music or the College of Creative Arts, should consult special application instructions for audition tape and portfolio submission requirements.
Language Notes
To study at the undergraduate level, students who are non-native English speakers must have an academic IELTS score of at least 6 (no band less than 5.5) or a minimum TOEFL of 550 (213 CBT) with a TWE/ER score of 4.

Housing and Meals
Students are housed in single-occupancy rooms in residences with communal bathrooms and some kitchen facilities. The ISEP-Direct program in New Zealand does NOT include meals; students are responsible for their own meals.
Student Activities
Massey University offers a wide range of extra-curricular student activities available for all students, from the Alpine club, to Fire-Spinning, to Waterpolo. Clubs Day, during the first week of the semester, is a great opportunity for students to peruse what’s on offer, but there is also a list of Massey University Clubs here. Massey also has excellent recreation center facilities available.
Internships, Service Learning, Volunteering
NEW! Internships for academic credit are now being offered through the Communications department at Palmerston North and Wellington campuses. The internship is worth 15 credits at Massey ( = 4 US credits) and is available to students who have successfully completed a junior-year communications class in the US. This option is at no additional cost, but will be part of the four-course load for the semester.

Profile
Massey University, Auckland, is a compact and modern campus, architecturally designed in the Spanish Mission style. Lecture facilities are state-of-the-art, and facilities are both spacious and contemporary. Classes are small, teaching is interactive, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.
Location
Auckland is an international city built around a stunning harbor. It is New Zealand's largest urban area with a diverse multi-cultural population and world-class features and facilities. The Auckland Campus is part of the North Shore, which is just 20 minutes drive from the center of Auckland. The North Shore City region covers 120 km of coastline and includes more than 30 sandy swimming beaches. The area in which the campus is located has a wide range of amenities, numerous cafes, shopping centers, cinema complexes, art galleries, libraries, a Theatre of the Arts, and extensive leisure and sport facilities. A motorway links the North Shore with Auckland's CBD and the International Airport. City bus services are efficient, well developed and relatively inexpensive.
